Petite Sirah (Lodi, California)

Petite Sirah is an unmistakable favorite among many red wine drinkers. This little red grape can be quite decadent in its final appreciation. Inky purple in color, Petite Sirah has a slightly higher acidity and is much more tannic than other reds, having a pronounced mouthfeel, yet refreshingly quick on the finish. With plenty of blueberry and plum flavors, the most common expression made about the grape is that its "Jammy". This wine stands on its own very well, but also makes a fantastic blender with Zinfandel or other varieties that need a little help from time to time. Petite Sirah's exceptional color and tannin also make it a great candidate for extended bulk or bottle aging and oak treatment.
